Candyland - The Racist Candy Store!

There is a candy store I love, called Candyland. It’s a candy/snack shop that sells goodies from Japan and Hong Kong. It’s Chinese owned. There are 3 locations in the Metro Vancouver area. 2 in Richmond and 1 in Burnaby. All 3 locations are in Chinese only malls. No big deal. However they launched a website, http://www.mycandyland.net in Chinese only, as if the only customers they have are Chinese. They also have a TV commercial that airs on the local Chinese TV station in Vancouver.

Since this is CANADA it gets on my nerves to see such crap. Yes, there are tons of other business that are like this, so why pick on Candyland? Because I like the store. And because snacks and candy are universal, they are not like Chicken Feet and Beef Internal that white people are not going to eat anyway! So to the owner.. WAKE UP! If you want more business stop being a racist, and show you want English speaking Canadians as customers as well!

Another note, how about you hire someone who smiles at the Aberdeen location instead of some old bag who sits there picking her nose and looking like an idiot. She’s actually not that old, but whoever hired her needs to seriously take some lessons on how to hire customer friendly workers!

One last thing, although many of the brands sold in Candyland are Japanese brand names, you have to be careful to read the labels to see that it’s actually made IN Japan. Most things are not! They are copies or from external plants that manufacture these products in Singapore, Indonesia, China, or Hong Kong. I took my Japanese friends there, and they were quite disappointed that Candyland chose to import the cheaper, poorer quality versions of a Japanese candy or snack.

You have to stop griping about immigrants, Scott, this record is broken and it’s been skipping for about a million months. It’s a free world, and they can cater to whoever they want. Ever think that they pay taxes, rent, and fees to the City for their space? Ever think that they are running a business and could potentially fail? It’s their choice to market to whomever they want.
